Irish Women Golf Recruits Rolex Junior Golf Champs

The 2011 Rolex Junior All-American champion Talia Campbell (Dallas, Texas) will attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall of 2012. The Rolex Junior All-American along with Lindsey Weaver (Scottsdale, Arizona) will start their season during the Irish roster in the next fall. After winning this year’s Rolex Junior All-American Championship, Notre Dame Women’s golf head coach Susan Holt announced the signing of two student-athletes to national letters-of-intent to attend the University of Notre Dame in the fall of 2012.

Lindsey Weaver was selected as a 2011 Hewlett Packard AJGA Scholastic All-American champion. She was also a second team Rolex Junior All-American to cap her 2010-11 season. Susan Holt said that she was extremely excited to add Talia Campbell and Lindsey Weaver in the line-up for the next four years. According to her, this was actually the conglomeration of top class junior golf players. They are the highest rated golfers that she and her team have ever recruited. She admitted that both of them were equally talented will definitely have an impact on the program.

Presently, Talia Campbell is in her senior season at Ursuline Academy of Dallas College Prep. In this season, she has helped her school win three consecutive Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) 5A state titles. This includes her individual titles in 2010 and 2011. Talia Campbell is a three-time all-state selection. She has been ranked 29th by the Junior Golf Scoreboard. The Junior Golf Scoreboard is responsible for ranking the players in all tournaments. She was also ranked 15th in the Junior Golfweek rankings and 32nd in the Polo golf rankings.

She finished at the top 10 spots for five times in the 2010-11 seasons when she competed in nine American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournaments.Lindsey Weaver She also managed the top five spots four times and was the winner of the 2011 Randy Wise Junior Open played at the Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Amongst the other 24 golfers in the tournament, Talia Campbell scored a 54-hole mark of 216. This year, she has an average of 75.00 for 12 rounds in 2011 AJGA tournaments. She was selected as a 2011 Hewlett Packard AJGA Scholastic All-American. The honor represents her strengths in the classroom and on the golf course and was an honorable mention Rolex Junior All-American in 2011.

Lindsey Weaver has been playing junior golf for the last six years now. She has already listed her name all throughout the AJGA record book. She has been also tied for 14th all-time with seven career wins. In September, 2011, Lindsey Weaver was selected to the Ping Junior Solheim Cup team where she played a key role in helping the United States retain the title. In opening day action, she lost in foursomes and then won her fourball match. On the final day of the tournament, in the singles, she clinched the United States’ 12th point with a 2 and 1 win over England’s Charley Hull.

In the new edition of the 2011 American Junior Golf Association’s Rolex Tournament of Champions, Shun Yat Hak was the one who finally stole the show. Shun Yat Hak won the American Junior Golf Association’s Rolex Tournament of Champions in Sunriver, Oregon on Friday. Shun Yat Hak tied for the second position before taking the trophy home. With top ten finishes in six American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) invitationals in 2010, Shun Yat Hak is back with a bang! Among the six invitationals, a Rolex T-4 showing also makes her winning pack large and special.

The Rolex Tournament of Champions, conducted by the American Junior Golf Association or AJGA is a 72-hole stroke play event with a cut in both divisions after two rounds. This particular Golf championship is a 144-player field featuring as many as 67 Rolex Junior All-Americans and players from 30 states and five foreign countries. Entering in its 29th year, the Rolex Tournament of Champions is one of 10 AJGA Invitationals and is the longest running AJGA tournament. The American Junior Golf Association is a non-profit organization committed to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. Being the largest junior golfing association, the AJGA has an annual junior membership of approximately 5,000 junior golfers from 50 states and 30 foreign countries. The AJGA invitationals see participation from boys and girls belonging to the age group of 12-18.

Shun Yat Hak has already provided her verbal commitment to play college golf for Georgia Institute of Technology. Shun Yat Hak has already bagged top five finishes on the AJGA this year. This also includes a win at the Taylor Made-Adidas Golf Junior at Innisbrook. Shun Yat Hak was ranked sixth in the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings and was also the highest-ranked player in the field. No.9 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings, Cody Proveaux finished with a share of runner-up honors along with the others. She also finished as runners up in the HP Boys Championship at Carlton Woods and the FootJoy Invitational earlier in this year. Marcel Puyat, Jordan Niebrugge, Lee McCoy, Henry Do, Kyle Kochevar and Billy Kennerly were among the others who were able to manage the other top six positions in 2011 American Junior Golf Association’s Rolex Tournament of Champions.

Some of the AJGA alumni have gone on to become some of the world’s most popular golfers. All of them rose to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golfing tournaments. More than 160 former AJGA juniors currently play on the PGA and LPGA Tours and have compiled more than 300 wins. Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Davis Love III, Mike Weir, Charles Howell III, Jim Furyk, Grace Park, Cristie Kerr, Candie Kung and Paula Creamer are some of the big names who belong to the AJGA alumni.

The Rolex Supported AJGA To Host An Event At Eagle Point

The Rolex supported AJGA will be working hand in hand with Eagle point in hosting next event. Bobby Long who is the president of the club stated that this is a great opportunity for them to host the event and showcase their facility. He also feels that it will be a great challenge for all the participants who will come to participate in the event. The course opened in the year 2000 and the 72 par course has around 7,200 yards. The designer of the course was Tom Fazio, who is a legendary golf architect.  The championship layout is surely going to be a challenge for the players as it has many hazards that will test the players.

Every year the Rolex supported American Junior Golf Foundation Cup brings together the top 40 juniors in the nation in a match that will be played with East vs. West match play tournament. The top ten girls and the top ten boys from east Mississippi river will be competing against their rival counterparts from the western side. The teams for the match were based on the rankings of Polo Golf that will be rewarding the players who finish on the top position in the junior golf events. Some of the well known players in the east team are Morgan Pressel, Stewart Cink, Charles Howell III, Matt Kuchar and Cristie Kerr. On the other hand you might also recognize some of the famous players from the west side that includes Hunter Mahan, Tiger Woods, Grace Park, Tiger WoodsPaula Creamer and Rickie Fowler. The event last year was truly exciting from the start to the end. After a battle in the singles matches, foursome and four-ball, it was the west that won the final match in the girls single (25.5 - 24.5). The west side has been leading with a record of 12-8-1. On the other hand the east team has not been in a very good shape as the last victory secured was in the year 2006.

The American Junior Golf Association is a nonprofit organization that has been dedicated to the development and support of the young players who aim at earning college golf scholarships. AJGA has been providing exposure to a lot of young players and been presenting them with scholarships to secure their future in the game. Girls and boys from the age group of 12 to 18 can get themselves enrolled in the program. As of now there are around5, 000 junior golfers from more than 40 countries. AJGA has created Achieving Competitive Excellence (ACE) Grant program that provides assistance financially to the young and talented players who are in need of funds. Tilleist has been sponsoring AJGA since 1989 and Rolex has been supporting them for almost three decades. The alumnus of the AJGA includes Hunter Mahan, Tiger Woods, Stewart Cink, Morgan Pressel, Matt Kuchar, Inbee Park, Cristie Kerr, Phil Mickelson and Paula Creamer.

Exide Technologies Junior Open Boasts Of An Elite Roster Of Rolex Players

The Country Club of the South in Johns Creek will have around 78 junior golfers from Georgia and all around the nation competing in Exide Technologies Junior Open. The field will consist of Rolex championship winners. The American Junior Golf Association will stage the competition from the 15th of April to the 17th. The roster of the tournament is surely one of the most powerful on AJGA Open schedule. It includes 8 Rolex Junior All-Americans along with National Letters of Intent which is signed by 13 players.  The 78 player field will have 32 juniors from Georgia and 13 from states even Mexico will be represented in the game by some players. The boys’ division will be led by Billy Kennerly. The young player is a native of Alpharetta and has won the Rolex Junior All-American championship twice.  The Clemson commit has finished at top ten positions 13 times in national junior golf competition. He recently finished at the fifth position with a tie at HP Boys’ Championship that took place at Carlton Woods. The event was AJGA invitation only event.

Billy Kennerly, who is a senior at Mount Pisgah Christian School, finished as a runner up at Technologies Junior Open in the year 2009 and 2010. He will be looking forward to his 1st AJGA victory in this tournament. Also aiming for the victory at the championship will be J.D. Tomlinson who is from Gainesville, Fla. He is also the highest ranked player in the field and currently holds 20th position in Polo Golf Rankings. Last year he received 2nd Team Rolex Junior All-America honors after winning at TaylorMade-Adidas Golf Junior at Innisbrook and also three top 20 finishes. On the other hand in girls division Simin Feng from Orlando, Fla. will take part in the event this year to defend the title she won last year. She is currently at the 37th position in Polo Golf Rankings. The young player is a double winner of Rolex Junior All-American.Rolex She also has three victories in AJGA career that also includes the ANNIKA Invitational that she won in the year 2009. The girls division for the match also has a lot of potential and the fans can expect to see some very competitive golfing on the field.

The players include Mariah Stackhouse from Riverdale, who is a junior at North Clayton High School. She has also won two AJGA events early in her career. She is at par with her male counterpart and has won the Rolex Junior All-American twice. In the Exide Technologies Junior Open that took place last year she grabbed the third position. That much deserved win was followed by 4 top ten finishes in the national competition that was held last year. It included a win at AJGA Junior at Steelwood which was presented by AT&T. With such talented players on field the match is surely going to be a treat for the spectators.

Céline Boutier Walks Away With Annika Invitational From The 72 Field Players Including 25 Rolex Junior All American

Céline Boutier, who hails from Montrouge in France, finally walked away with the prestigious Annika Invitational. The field of 72 players had 25 Rolex Junior All American along with players from 12 different countries and 15 states. This win was Céline Boutier’s first U.S victory in her 2nd Rolex sponsored AJGA (American Junior Golf Foundation) tournament. The 18 year old talented player who played a 66 in the 2nd round proved to be the main reason for her victory. The ANNIKA Invitational that was conducted by the Rolex sponsored American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) was a 54 hole stroke play event that took place at the Reunion Resort which is the home of ANNIKA Academy. The field that only comprised of girl players played par 72 independence at 6,275 yards.

Céline Boutier’s 2nd round made her get ahead by four strokes in the last 18 holes of the play. After shooting 4 consecutive bogeys in the front nine the player knew she had to put herself together and get out of this position to refocus on the game to win the back nine. Céline Boutier confessed that she was a bit nervous as it was the last day of the championship and she wanted to try her best. She also revealed that the first nine was very difficult for her but she tried to get her confidence back and did her best after parring at No.9. The performance that had an even par play on the last nine holes kept the player in the lead. After she shot a stray shot on tee at No.AJGA 17 she shot an 8 ft par putt that gave her the required momentum to go into the final and win the title. After her win the young player stated that there was a lot of pressure on her as she was playing in the U.S for the first time and with players who she has not played with before. She confessed that she felt great after her win and seemed very happy.

At one point of the game Doris Chen from Bradenton managed to come within the two shot range of the winner but could not get any closer. However she finished the game to bag the second position scoring a total of 1 under par 215. Kendall Prince who is a resident managed to round out top 5 with a total of 1 over par 217. The esteemed American Junior Golf Association is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to the progress and growth of young women and men who aim at earning college scholarships after playing competitive golf. The organization helps in providing important exposure and has a junior Membership for girls and boys from 12 to 18 years of age in 30 countries.
